CenterEdge Authorize.net Integration
Overview
For web stores, CenterEdge integrates with the Authorize.net platform for credit card processing. Authorize.net is an excellent e-commerce payment processing platform with support for a wide variety of fraud prevention tools, which makes it the perfect choice. Authorize.net is a service that is generally sold and configured by your credit card merchant services provider. You will likely need to set up a special e-commerce account with your merchant services provider, which they will link to Authorize.net for you.
Initial Setup
Once your merchant services provider has created an account, you should receive an activation email from Authorize.net, which will contain an activation link. You must click this link and complete the activation process within a few days, so don’t wait too long to complete it. As part of the activation process, you must set your password and your secret question / answer. You must also provide information to prove your identity, such as your bank account number and tax identification number.
Settings
After logging into your account, there are a few settings we recommend you review. You can review all of the settings, but these are the ones we recommend that you make sure to review. Settings can be accessed via the Settings link on the left side of the screen, found in the Account section.
- Email Receipt
This setting should normally be deselected. If you enable it, customers might receive multiple emails for each transaction, one from CenterEdge and one from Authorize.net, which should typically be avoided. - Card Code Verification
Configure this setting based on how strictly you want to enforce the card security code. This is also known as the CVV2 or CVC2 and is the 3 or 4-digit code found on most credit cards. - Address Verification Service
Configure this setting based on how strictly you want to enforce address verification. CenterEdge will supply the full address to Authorize.net as part of the transaction, but here you can decide what is required to match before the transaction is approved. CenterEdge normally recommends setting it to reject invalid postal codes only. - Other Fraud Settings
There are other fraud control settings available to you as well. Please configure these as you see fit. To get the most fraud prevention, you should request the Fraud Detection Suite (FDS) from your merchant services provider.
Turning Test Mode Off
By default, your account will initially be set up in test mode, meaning no real transactions are taking place. Use these instructions to switch from test to live mode before your webstore goes live.
Make sure you turn test mode off before going live! You will lose any money from transactions processed in test mode!
