Birthday Season is upon us!  For a lot of our clients the new year means lots of parents searching around town frantically trying to find a location for their child’s birthday party.  It’s the only time their little darling gets to be 7, or 10, or 16 and they want to get it right.  Does your facility have a birthday experience that will make a child’s birthday one they’ll be talking about for years to come?

A great birthday party experience can start in the booking process.  When was the last time you took a look at your web store?  Do all roads on your web site lead to a booking? Birthday parties are a terrific way to introduce new guests to your facility, and it’s important to make the process fast and easy for them. Now is a great time to review your site from a guest’s perspective and determine whether you are set up to win the party.  Here are a few questions to consider:

  1. Is it clear how to book a party? Remember those little Russian dolls that you open up and find another inside, then another, and still yet another? Those are great toys, but when thinking about clicks on your web site, guests will lose interest quickly if they have to go on a scavenger hunt just to find party information. Consider a button on your site with a clear call to action, such as “Book your party now!” high on the front page.  Those kinds of “Reserve Now” buttons should be all over your web site, with links to your store so that the moment guests decide they want to book, you’re ready to let them.
  2. Are my packages easy to understand? Are your guests able to book a birthday party, talk to their spouse, cook dinner and tell their child that, no they can’t have a cookie now – all at the same time? Right or wrong, we are a society of multitaskers, so be sure to use your words sparingly and highlight the key differences between packages, so they can be easily compared.  If all your packages include party rooms, table settings and game cards, consider listing that information in one place, one time. It makes it much simpler for a busy parent to understand what you have to offer.
  3. Does the party package showcase the fun? We’re in the business of fun!  Does your package information look more like mortgage paperwork than a party?  Pictures and vivid language that really show all the food and fun a child will have goes a long way to selling your party, much more so than words.  Is the language that you are using positive and does it highlight your unique selling proposition?  Whether it’s the variety of your attractions, your highly trained team, or the value of the party, be sure you’re showing buyers what you do best.

There are lots of ways to show what you have to offer, and if you don’t know where to start, the best question is simply, “would I buy this?” If the answer is no, well let’s look at why not.
