Important Notice for CenterEdge Users regarding Windows XP

Posted by Rick Smith on Mar 18, 2014 4:51:00 PM

If you are a CenterEdge Advantage client using Windows XP to operate your CenterEdge Advantage installation, this message contains vital information regarding your PCI compliance.

In order to remain PCI compliant, any system which handles sensitive customer data such as credit card numbers must always stay up to date with the latest security patches for their operating systems, letting no more than 30 days pass without a security update. Last Year, Microsoft announced they would stop publishing security and bugfix patches for Windows XP, with the last patch to be released on April 8th, 2014. This means that any system running XP will not receive any security updates after this time, and thus will no longer be PCI compliant as of May 7th.

Posted by Rick Smith on Jan 31, 2013 3:10:00 PM

The past year has been a season of exceptional growth for us here at CenterEdge.  We have nearly doubled our staff – with nearly all of those additions coming in the support department – and have restructured our support and implementation teams to help ensure we continue to provide the high level of support you have become accustomed to.  This pursuit of improving customer support has also led us to implement a new system for managing support and enhancement requests.

Zoo Software - is your system ready to go cashless?

Posted by Rick Smith on Aug 29, 2012 12:00:00 PM

There are times when working for a company that creates software for family entertainment facilities can interfere with a simple family outing in unexpected ways.  Take my recent foray to a local zoo with my family of 10.  As I waited in what I thought would be the shortest line (Ha!) observing the admissions folks, my mind involuntarily turned to what they could be doing to increase the line speed and get me and my family through the gate before the children completely lost the ability to contain their excitement at seeing the animals.

One of the most powerful benefits of your FEC’s integrated Point of Sales System is also one of the most underutilized – data.  By properly setting up a Loyalty Program, your Online group bookings, Point of Sales transactions, even ticket redemption sales in your arcade can all be tied to your individual customers, giving you a potential gold mine of information.

1 Simple Trick to Optimize your FEC POS Screens

Posted by Rick Smith on Jun 6, 2012 10:59:00 AM

Lately, I have been seeing a number of clients with POS screens chock full o’ buttons – so packed in fact that it is actually slowing line speed while young cashiers hunt through several tabs as they peck out the customer’s order.  This filling of the screen is typically a gradual process – sort of like a sock drawer – it doesn’t get packed all at once, but little by little new socks get added until it is overflowing with every kind of sock except the one you are looking for.

Does your FEC Software have a ‘Plan B’?

Posted by Rick Smith on May 31, 2012 9:04:00 PM

No matter how bullet-proof your network is, sooner or later you are going to experience a system failure.  Hard drives fail often without notice, lightning storms and hordes of soda-wielding teen-agers can wreak havoc on the most rugged of equipment.

4 Reasons Your FEC NEEDS a POS System

Posted by Rick Smith on May 22, 2012 11:20:00 PM

Whether you are running an arcade, movie theater, skating rink or trampoline park, there is one operational consideration that is central to your business success – cash management.   If you are currently still working with a cash register, or even with paper and a cigar box (you know who you are), then you are spending more time, effort and money than you need to be managing the cash related aspect of your business.
