Every morning, I get a Minute with Maxwell email in my inbox from the John Maxwell leadership team. In it, John takes a word and advises viewers how to apply the word and increase their influence potential with others.  It’s always the first line of his opening paragraph that moves me, though. He begins every email with the words, “What you do today matters.”

We are in a seemingly constant state of change and uncertainty these days.  But with this time of year also comes a time of reflection and of being grateful, and giving.

Now is the time that many of us start looking for ways to make a difference. We take a little time to reflect on what we’re grateful for, and how fortunate we are in many ways. I am reminded especially during these times that change begins with one person deciding that this moment will be different.

Sometimes, we get so focused on the world around us and all that’s wrong that we forget that every decision we make is a piece of communication about who we are.  We have the power to effect change person by person in our own families, through our work, and in our communities.  Therefore, every action you take is an opportunity to display your values and perhaps influence others. As Scott Adams once said, “Remember there’s no such thing as a small act of kindness. Every act creates a ripple with no logical end.”

What you do today matters. I hope you’ll make the most of it. Happy (US) Thanksgiving this week from our CenterEdge family to yours.
