I have seen so many of our clients having too many buttons on the screen.  Too many buttons makes things challenging for the cashier which can result in a slow transaction.  You want the transaction time to be as quick as possible to keep your lines moving.  So taking a little time to simplify things can have huge benefits. The first option mentioned was the implementation of table and modifier screens.  In case you missed it, here is a link to that article: 1 Simple Trick to Optimize your FEC POS Screens.  What I am going to discuss is the option of simplifying your daily specials.  CenterEdge Advantage Software has a method to allow your POS buttons to change depending on the time of day and the day of the week.  A lot of our clients will have their daily specials listed on a SPECIALS tab that can be accessed at anytime.  This trick not only allows you to simplify your screen but also provides a level of security.  If you are not using this method then your cashiers have the option to sell your specials at anytime, any day of the week.  So the Tuesday special can be sold on Saturday evening to one of their friends.  If you are not paying attention to your reports, you might never notice.

With every button that you define in our software you have the option for it to appear on everyday of the week, just for specific days of the week or the method that we are talking about today is just appearing for a specific time on a certain day.  To give you an easy example: If you have a Tuesday morning special from 10am to Noon.  We can create a button that will automatically appear on Tuesday at 10am and disappear at Noon.  By using this method you can use the same spot on the POS screen to hold most if not all of your daily specials which reduces the number of buttons drastically.

If you are a using the CenterEdge Advantage POS system please take some time to explore this method.  If you are not using CenterEdge as your Point of Sale Solution and want to see this method or any of our other features please schedule a demo today.
